Fingers Aka Clyde Cockatoo Senior - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Elizabeth, Colorado

Clyde, also known as Fingers, was transferred to Teller County Regional Animal Services with the assistance of a sheriff's deputy and animal control. The shelter deals with dogs and cats, and is located in a rural area NW of Colorado Springs. The birds'owner and her husband claimed that no one had spent time with the birds for years, and her husband had become allergic to them. We were told that he obtained Clyde in 1986 in CA, which was in the heyday of bird imports and an aviculture explosion of bird breeders. Importation and a supply of cheap birds ceased in the US in 1992 with the WBCA, the Wild Bird Conservation Act. Bonnie, also known as Chicken, was acquired by the same owners in 2008, and they said she had already been in other homes. Maybe the birds were set up to breed? We don't know because the owners didn't answer questions about the birds. Both birds were in their own cages, with one perch. No enrichment, no fresh food, and in an empty dark basement room with a mirror. With the exception of the powder down coating the cage and carpet, the room was barren and clean. The cages were clean enough, and 6 unopened bags of food: bird seed, peanuts and dried fruit mix.The upcoming part of Clyde's life will be an unraveling story as we learn more about him, his relationship with Bonnie, his diet, behavior and health with a thorough veterinary wellness exam. This is the first veterinary exam that Clyde has ever had in his life. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Yellow Weight: 0.629 Age: 42yrs 1mths 1wks
