Clover Conure Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Elizabeth, Colorado

A total of 23 birds came to TGF in January 2014 transferred from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa when the owner/breeder died. The flock consists of several species of Pyrrhura conures, including Black capped and many Green cheek color mutations, Grey parrots, and Blue & Gold macaws. We don't have past histories on these birds but working with each of them on a daily basis has helped us to learn their quirks and personalities. Each of the birds has had complete medicals and they are ready for adoptive homes. Most of the birds came to us as bonded pairs, however they are generally comfortable with people and we won't separate pairs if they've chosen to remain together. Clover is a mutation Black capped conure - with a beautiful blue wash on her feathers, and she shares her cage with Norton. Some of the birds are initially shy when a new person first meets them, and we encourage that any interested person give one of these (as well as any other bird) the choice about how to interact with people. Like the rest of this flock, Clover appears to be in beautiful condition, and she was not abused. Clover was not kept as someone's pet, but her social personality along with time and motivation will allow her to be more interactive with individuals. Clover has a healthy appetite, enjoys the company of other conures, and likes to interact and play with her toys. Just because a male and female are housed together does not mean that they are set up to reproduce. It's important to make sure no nest-type environments are unintentionally set up. It is important to spend time with each bird and with the pair. Sometimes during the years, both birds may exhibit protective, pair bonding behavior as nature sets them up to establish these pair bonds. Finding ways to enrich their activities and interact with them in ways that don't involve touching is a skill the adopter needs. Plenty of showers, consistency in routine, a consistent and nutritional diet, physical activity and an established wake/sleep cycle will keep breeding behaviors minimalized.
